Bullet Bitten

OK so I have done it, I have created a Facebook page for Ambrosia Photography.

Its all a bit strange actually.  It sort of says that I think I'm good enough to make a business out of my photography.  Perhaps I am, but I am my own worst critic and never think I have what it takes.  But the trick is, push through those feelings of self doubt and just bite that bullet.

I have found a few statistics on the Facebook site that may be interesting....

  • More than 500 million active users
  • 50% of our active users log on to Facebook in any given day
  • Average user has 130 friends
  • People spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook

  • There are over 900 million objects that people interact with (pages, groups, events and community pages)
  • Average user is connected to 80 community pages, groups and events
  • Average user creates 90 pieces of content each month
  • More than 30 billion pieces of content (web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photo albums, etc.) shared each month.

Those in the know say that a Facebook page is a modern business necessity. That if I don't have a Facebook page then I may as well be invisible.

So I did it.  Ambrosia ..... meet Facebook.

Little Girls

Little girls are made of daisies and butterflies and soft kitty cat purrs
And all the precious memories of times that once were.

Little girls are made of angel's wings and giggles and a firefly's glow
And all the happy feelings, deep inside, that we all know.

Little girls are made of cinnamon and bubbles and fancy white pearls
And snowflakes and rainbows and ballerina twirls.

Little girls are made of sunshine and cupcakes and fresh morning dew,
And these are the reasons, little one, why everyone loves you.

Old Sydney Town

Recently I flew to Sydney to meet a hairdresser friend who was over from New Zealand for the Sydney Hair & Beauty Show.

This was my first trip to Sydney and I couldn't wait to get out there and snoop around.

I was unofficially there as 'photographer' for my friend so my main job for the weekend was shooting all the weird and wacky hairstyles being created at the show.
As the daughter of a hairdresser, my aim as a child was to be a hairdresser as well.  Unfortunately that wasnt to be but spending the day wandering around catching the industry was really my ultimate gig!

On the first day there we went to Bondi........  but didn't even get a glimpse of the ocean, in fact we didn't make it out of the Bondi shopping centre.

We were treated like VIPs, attending the opening of the new Toni & Guy hairdressing school.  We spent the evening with all the beautiful people and ended up being driven around the city in Hummazines.  I felt like a celebrity!

Sydney is a beautiful and fascinating town, and I cant wait to go back again.
