Roadtrip Revisited

Well, we made it home safe and sound, with only a couple of hitches in our well unorganised plan.
And what would a roadtrip be without roadkill! Poor Duck, really should have watched where he was flying. Reminded me of the cartoon "Swamp" and the Kamikaze training.  Had a lovely weekend away in a place where technology has been left behind 2 towns away! No cell coverage, no internet, no phone access really at all. We were frantically checking our phones every kilometre to see if we were back up and running, and when we finally were - the sounds of messages coming through kept us going for a good 20 minutes!
The first tragedy started long before the duck found its way under our wheel. While I was getting out of bed in the morning before even leaving the house, my treasured iphone (that has been through some serious rough treatment over the last 2 years) fell onto the wooden floorboards and smashed!! I could only laugh, and wrap it in gladwrap . I have since found that sellotape is far more effective in holding it together! It still works too.  The van we borrowed had to be emptied of rubbish and tyres pumped to make the vehicle drivable making us 2 hours late for leaving. No problems....

We drove through beautiful countryside singing all the way, a bit of Dr Hook and Pat Benatar taking us back to our youth. We were greeted with food, and wine and it flowed all night and into the next day.  It was so lovely to see these old friends again. And even the 3 boys were there.... in spirit.
Mine was the beautiful one on the right :)
